Press Release | Washington, DC, United States
CamVoxMedia Group strongly and vigorously condemns the recent attacks on Cameroonian embassies abroad and the physical assaults on visiting government officials. Such acts are unacceptable, illegal, and harmful to the image of Cameroon and the unity of its people.
They violate not only Cameroonian laws but also those of host countries, endangering the security of diplomatic missions and tarnishing the credibility of the diaspora community.
“We call on all Cameroonians in the diaspora to refrain from violence and to prioritize constructive dialogue as a tool for reconciliation,” said Julius Babila Taka, PhD, Editor-in-Chief of CamVoxMedia Group. “Dialogue remains the most effective way to ensure peace, justice, national cohesion, political stability, and sustainable economic development.”
Why Dialogue Is Urgent
Political and social divisions within Cameroonian communities—both at home and abroad—have reached a dangerous level. Without respectful engagement, mistrust grows and opportunities for progress are lost.
In contrast, dialogue fosters understanding, builds bridges, and creates an environment conducive to economic growth and shared prosperity.
Practical Measures for the Diaspora
Form diaspora representative councils in key host countries to serve as legitimate channels of communication with the Cameroonian government.
Develop position papers expressing the concerns, priorities, and proposals for political reforms of the diaspora.
Organize constructive forums and conferences by inviting Cameroonian government officials, business leaders, and community stakeholders to find common ground.
Invest in collaborative projects demonstrating the diaspora’s commitment to national development.
Policy Recommendation to the Government of Cameroon
CamVoxMedia Group calls for the immediate creation of a Department of Diaspora Affairs—at the rank of Secretary of State or Minister Delegate to the Presidency—dedicated exclusively to engaging Cameroonians abroad.
This department should:
Have regional offices in Europe, North America, and Africa.
Promote diaspora investment, cultural diplomacy, and skills repatriation programs to accelerate industrialization and innovation in Cameroon.
The Importance of a Strong Relationship Between the Diaspora and the Government
Strengthen peace and mutual trust
Increase foreign direct investment and philanthropic activities
Enable the transfer of skills and know-how to the country
Stimulate Cameroon’s industrialization and competitiveness
CamVoxMedia Group reaffirms its commitment to promoting peace, development, and unity in Cameroon and among Cameroonians around the world. The organization stands ready to support any initiative aimed at uniting rather than dividing.
